Photographed on Brier Island, NS, recently, where they are a common breeder. I was level with the bird, looking slightly downwards against a grassy bank with some bushes.

    D7000, 300 f/4 AF-S + 1.7TC. 1/500, f/6.7, ISO320, hand-held, no flash.

    Comments welcome.

    Richard:

I like the pose, perch and background.

The bird seems too contrasty and the IQ seems to be suffering a bit.

I have found the 1.7 TC to be a bit of a challenge to get really high IQ shots with, and might suggest a smaller f/stop to get into its sweet spot.

How much of a crop was this?

    Cheers
