Today I ran into trouble with my D7000, which seems to stall when deleting an image. The whole thing just freezes at the confirmation dialog (or even before that) and only works again after taking the battery in and out. On one occasion, the screen went black upon deleting the image (which is normal) and I was able to shoot a few frames, but when looking back, the camera had not recorded any of them. When it stalls, the indicator light of the memory card comes on.
Has anyone had the same experience and do you have any suggestions about what's going on and how it can be fixed?
The D7000 is only a few months old, as is the 8 Gb Sandisk Extreme Pro SD HC memory card. I checked the card and it's not locked, and the contacts are clean. I had the same problem when I inserted a different memory card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! For now, I just stay away from deleting images on the camera and hope for the best.

Hi James, thanks for responding. I did try a 4 Gig Sandisk card, with the same results. I haven't updated the firmware yet, it's still the original version. Do you know of any bugs related to image reviewing or deletion in that?
Hi jerry did you get it fixed yet? did you try the another memory card in the other slot?clean battery contacts? The only D7K problems ive heard of are the auto focus just locking up,..creating new folders randomly 102.103 etc and hot pixels during video..I just took mine to nikon montreal for a cleaning and checkup and update firmware ,had it back in a couple of hours,, only 50$ also very impresed,, good lick jerry
Hi Brian, thanks for your response. I haven't had the time to update the firmware. I've just returned from my holiday. All contacts (both of the battery and card) are clean. I'll post the results of the update if succesful. Refraining from deleting images on camera has kept me out of trouble so far.
Hi all! I've updated the firmware of the D7000 and haven't run into trouble so far while deleting images. Seems that the update did the trick! Thanks again!
