Image from Florida in april. He was going around fishing from the ropes tying up the boats in a small marina. Basically full frame with canvas added on top and in front of bird (maybe I should have added a bit more in front). All C&C welcome.

Hello Svante, good exposure and nice detail and color, BG looks real good. The right leg could use a little tone down, a bit of a head turn this way would have been nice. Would be nice to see that left leg a little sharper. Overall nice complimentary colors and image.

You have nice details, EXP and BG here. However, I feel the bird is cramped and needs a bit of room all around.

Good detail always nice to have all the specs, for example HH or tripod and ISO setting. Too tight IMO, however light look soft and I like the texture in the shadows. I like the rope perch too, it make the image different and I love originality.

Hello Svante, pretty nice capture here - agree with comments above. My initial thought was that you need more space for the bird and maybe a little more contrast. I also see a strong cyan color cast. I took the liberty of making some tweaks to your image. I added 10% canvas all the way around the image then filled with content aware fill. Converted the image to L*a*b color (the correct way to express it!) and adjusted the colors, then added a bit of USM. Nice capture, thanks for sharing.

Nice detail and the rope makes an interesting perch. Kerry's repost takes this up a notch.

Great job on the repost, Kerry. I'll have to learn that trick for color casts. That is something I really have a problem fishing in FS.

Thanks everyone for great commments. I think I will have to recalibrate my monitor because I just dont see those cyan color casts and this is the second image in a row where the cyan cast is pointed out to me. Special thanks to Kerry for going to the trouble of improving the image immensely by showing what the image really should look like.

With respect to technicalities the it was ISO400 and taken with a tripod. I am just unable to handhold the camera with the 500 mm lens for more than a few seconds before it starts shaking (and I have a gymcard )

Svante, you made a nice capture there. Processing the image and knowing how to see color differences is an important part of making the final image. I just posted a new sticky at the top of the forum page, which is a gray scale pattern that you can use as a reference when you are editing your images. This will help you see color balance issues.
