    Default Juvenile Green Heron

I spent a couple of hours with the Green Herons yesterday at a local pond. I was surprised at their success rate hunting. I watched him catch dragonflies out of the air, small fish, bugs and frogs. They have quite the appetite. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

    Jim:

I like the 'painterly' BG, detail in the bird, great eye.
If it were mine, would probably add a bit more canvas on top. I know they tend to have kind of a hunched over look, but he seems a bit squeezed from above.

    Cheers

This is a great image! Agree re some more room at the top and balancing the composition by adding to the sides.

    Jim:

I like the composition much better in the repost.
It seems like the contrast has gone up a bit as well, and he may be getting a bit too dark? I don't have enough experience with these guys to be sure. It may be an optical illusion caused the larger amount of bright background.

    Cheers

Great repost Jim, and just love the hunting/fishing pose. Great detail and colours on the heron, and I do like the BG, especially the LLC.
