    Default So. Cal. Tern

Here's another of my favorite images from Southern California in July. Normally the nicitating membrane bugs me, but for whatever reason I think it works in this image.

Pose, BG, water drops ... all add up to a very cool image, Doug!
Always amazes me that they can twist so far while flying. Had never noticed the tail twist, though.

Great image Doug. I like the action, details, sharpness and water drop. Makes me think of the movie The Exorcist!

Very unusual pose Doug - this certainly lines up with the monthly theme!

Very well timed to capture this in flight pose. Good feather detail from the shake, and the flying droplets add interest. There's so much to look at, that one doesnt even notice the eye.

Perfect timing, and I agree with all the comments. I would love to be able to do this kind of shot.

This is great Doug! Love the freeze frame action packed image. Very good catch of an unusual mid-air move!

Hi Mitch. Elegant Terns dive into the water to catch fish. When they emerge from the water and take flight, they do a body shake (like a wet dog) to get the water off of them.

Love it and it works for theme. I love the water spray and the membrane works for me for this shot as well. I can almost see him doing a back flip LOL.

A VERY VERY nice one! I would try to change the eye though to see which version I prefer.
