    Very good Mitch, your equipment combo worked very well here. good exposure on the bird and beetle, very sharp also. The bright water spots in the BG are distracting. VWD

    I love that beetle Mitch - not your typical shoreline prey item! Head angle looks great, but those wide parallel legs and lack of visible tail do make the bird look a little strange. I find the background busy --> if it were possible, a lower perspective might have helped you a lot here - i.e. by softening all the greenery in the background, the beetle would pop that much more. I find the red items in the lower right distracting and would considering cloning them out. You might also look at a little curves adjustment to lighten the mid-tones a bit.

    What an interesting prey item! I think Jeff took the words right out of my mouth here. A lower angle would have really strengthened this image by giving it a cleaner BG. As presented I would remove the OOF white spot on the kelp and the red thing in the LRC.
