Cool portrait and the open beak is a nice bonus. I do find the beak to be a tad soft on my monitor and the whites a little on the hot side. Lovely eye contact Christoph. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice pose of one of my favorite gulls, but the beak is quite soft. The whites are just a tad over, but look ok on my monitor.

The only thing that bothers me is the beak. Lovely light, details and colors!

Hey Christoph, Great to see you here. I am fine with the beak as the eye is so sharp... Great light. If it were mine I would clean up the specular highlights (and other crud) on the bill and the head.

    later and love, artie

Real nice portrait. I had to hunt really hard to find a spot in the whites over 247 and most where nowhere near there so I think it is safe to say they aren't blown or even close to it. I think we're seeing a bit of "relative brightness" which makes them look hotter than they are. That said, you could tone down the red channel in just the white areas of the image a little bit to get even more detail.

I have one almost exactly like this I was going to post later. The light is really nice but the slightly OOF bill really hurts.

Very nice close up. I would have liked a tad more DOF, but other then that I like it.
