In France monastery's are plentiful and offer a photographer many opportunities. One of the tricks is to get to these places when they open so there are fewer people.
Very often they are open late(7-8pm) due to a long lunch break during mid day. In most of the monastaries that I visited no tripods are allowed which hurt due to the HDR potential. This is one of the few shots I was able to prop the camera onto a base..
PB applied...
Dave, I really like the perspective on this. The archway provides a great path for the eye to follow. Nice light work keeping some detail in the foreground. Cool photo.
Dave, I'm with Jay on this one...the archway and the beautiful lighting on the ceilings..as well as your ability to bring out the detail in so much of the shadow area..really makes this image. Wonderful composition, warm, inviting color...very nice!
Hey Dave,
Your killing me with this France shots! Nice details all around. Did u have another tourist 2-3 steps to your left? Nice lighting and offset framing, which shows depth. Nice subtle application of PB! Cant't wait to see more. Keep em coming guy!
The beautiful light makes this image. Interesting perspective with repeating arches. Trying to photograph at these old buildings amongst the tourists is a feat in itself.
