We have Ring-necked Pheasants here and the males are pumped up and ready for spring. This one has two females which I have been trying to photograph as well. The image was created today in my backyard. Pheasants are hunted in many places (but not here) and are skittish. I had to creep around the corner of the house to catch this male and within a few seconds it was off. The intention of the image is to highlight the amazing adornments on the face of the bird.
Good looking bird !!! Would have pointed the camera up and right to move the prominent eye Contrast seems high Very little detail in the whites and dark neck feathers blocked Do have good colors particularly the reds
Did not list the ISO but would sure like a higher shutter speed !!!! Hope you can get more, Great bird for your yard !!!
Thanks Alfred- It was ISO 400 and the exposure was a very quick grab before the bird ran off. Bird was in the shade and some distance from me, and the flash was the main light source. Ideally I should try to set up for these birds as they are regular in the garden right now.
