Default Magnificent Frigatebird catching a drink

This was a hard shot for me and I tried many times

About 20 frigates were drinking at the freshwater lagoon on Contadora Island, part of the Pearl Islans off Panama.
Standing in their midst was awsome, theyre wingspan is some 7.5 feet (I think).
They would each do 1 bombing run and then wheel away , returning every 30 mins or so.
pretty fast and holding them in view and catching the moment with the actual water collection was pretty hard.

    Hi Richard,
Your patience paid off! The pose and timing of the picture is perfect. I am still amazed that you can you use the Tc with the 100-400. I see a lot of noise under the wings and the whites are a bit hot. I would clone out the bird in the right upper corner.
I like the fanned tail and wing position,
    Gail

    Hi Gail

Using the TC - haha so am I, I should ditch it really unless able to use tripod.

It was such strong sunlight in that hole(lagoon) causing intense underwing shadow and the hot white
ISO could have been lower to help the noise and decrease shadow
I will see if I can make better; easy to clone out that bird; pesky least grebe

Add OK reposted, worked on cr2 again so a little different, let me know what you thin

Terrific timing. Looks like a Skimmer. Wonderful wing spread. Some of the noise is gone in the repost, although the bird seems maybe just a bit softer; and I'm seeing some halo around the bird. Still, a nice capture of the action.

    What a cool opportunity, Richard.
Must have been great seeing these massive birds swooping in for a drink.
Pretty well timed. I like the flared tail, the open beak with water between.
The OP seems to have luminance noise and the repost has noticeable color noise. I too see a halo around the bird.
    Was the original underexposed?

    Yup Sidharth
should have given it at least another stop on EXP compensation; you can went for +.67 as it was not enough
will have another look at the NR

was cool experience, should have ditched the 1.4 TC too but I kind of set off to get some close ups lol

halo - -hmm S&H trying to knock the brights on the headm need to back off a bit.
