After looking at John's dragonfly down below, mine kinda pales in comparison. But i thought i would post it anyway to see if i could get a response as to what to do next time to make it better. the focus brackets were dead on his eyes, but the focal point seemed to be above the eyes.

Harold, really like your image, the quality of the light is fantastic. The BG is nice and smooth and looks like it has a plant pattern to it. The sharpness looks good.
Flash would have def helped to bring out details and sharpness in the face.
I would recommend a slight crop from the bottom also.
I have seen images of this dragonfly before Harold and it really dose appeal to me!! Love the colour and those wing patterns!! Your composition here is very pleasing and I like the OOF reeds in the BG fanning out from the bottom left of the frame. Nice work!!

Very nice shot but I think the plane of focus is a little to the right, had you been a little more to the left I think both forewings would have had a reasonable DOF and the image would have had even more impact. Never the less a very nice image.

I actually like all of it (comp/BG/and DOF)...........but agree with both Robert's about the fill flash. It would have put this one over the top,
