Eagle in Homer, AK, processed with topaz simplify. For me the simplify filter works well both for the eagle and also for the bg peaks. What do you think?

Michael, I think the filter works exceptionally well with this image...my only suggestion would be to give the image a little more room at the top, and some more room to the left...but that's a matter of personal taste. The Simplify filter did a great job of creating the feeling of a painting while still maintaining detail in the wing feather..beautiful color and lighting on the image. Homer, Alaska?

To put more emphasis on the magnificant eagle I would consider cropping about a third off the bottom and adding to the top. I would also remove all filter effects from the sky as it seems to have made it blotchy. For me it is all about the grandeur of this eagle, which is rendered beautifully.

i fixed the blotchy sky - it was embarrassingly obvious once pointed out. As to the rest: this is Homer, Alaska, and I got lots of great eagle pictures, all against a clear sky or against the water. Otherwise when the eagles were against the hills as BG, the eagle got lost and it wasn't worth a shot (taught to me by Denise). So I tried very hard to get a shot with a clear eagle and some BG. In fact, I tried so hard to get the BG in that I actually clipped the top wing of the eagle. So I had already added canvas to the top and reconstructed the top wing - oops, I forgot to mention that in my original post. Sorry about that - fortunately this is the OOTB forum where people are very forgiving. Anyhow, since I had already added canvas to the top, I was reluctant to add too much. But even more, after all the effort to get that BG, I am very emotionally attached to it, and reluctant to crop any of it out. I'm not saying that I don't appreciate that it would improve the picture. So I added a little bit to the top, and cut a little bit from the bottom.

Excellent repost, Michael. I like your composition with the inclusion of the bg hills. You did really well with the reconstructed wing and the filter made it stand out. Very nice work.

    Hey Michael,
The repost takes it up a notch.....and I absolutely love the mountains at the base. I think this would also work as a vert.....less room right......just another option to explore as the repost works for me!

Michael, The repost is fantastic! I love the inclusion of the mountains with the snow. It gives the image a sense of place. Your eagle capture is great with the fanned tail and angled body!

The RP crop nailed it. The contrasting detail of the eagle against the mountains gives this depth and emphasis to the bird. Excellent!

Michael, I think it works great. The capture is indeed different and interesting and I think the background adds a lot to the image. The Simplify looks great on this image. Nice one!
