Another Osprey, I do take pictures of other birds, but these are my obsession for now.
Probably done for the year as the chicks have left the nest.

Excellent wingspread, exposure and sharpness Dan. Prey is an added bonus.
Love it. If anything, I'd place him higher in the frame.

Love the wingspread and the BG. Wish his head was entirely clear of wing but this is a minor nit. Nice and sharp,

Good flying posture Dan,and a good show of the full wingspread too. His catch a bonus. Another vote for moving him a tad higher in the frame.

    Hi Dan,

I have enjoyed your Osprey images and this is not an exception. The open wings display the underside of the wings nicely. The light direction has created some shadows on the near wing. I wold try and lighten near wing a bit. I also agree that placing the bird higher in frame might be a good option. It would give the sense of more space for the bird to land/fly into. To demonstrate I tried to lighten the near wing and toned down the the bright whites a bit (perhaps too much) using a nondestructive dodge and burn layer. I also added some canvas at the bottom using a technique from Robert O'Tooles APTATS CDs. I am sure with the original file and more time you could do a better job of it. Subtle changes they are but, they do give a slightly different presentation. I will leave it up to you if you think the suggestions are helpful. Thanks for sharing.

    Regards,

    Phil

Thanks Phil, for taking the time to work on this.
It does look better moved up in the frame, I did not have the room and I process my photos with NX2 which does
not have a "add canvas" option.
The lightening of the wing is also as improvement.
Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it.
