Lovely image, really like this![]()
Hi Jess lee .. super image... hope you don't mind my take on it!
Jess,
this is a very nice silhouette of the deer. The remake of peter is more powerful in the colors and therefore a beter picture.

I am on the fence in comparing the OP & Peter's repost. I like the hint of color in the elk & the frost covered grasses of the OP. I also like the BG color & the stronger silhouette of Peter's repost. Can the BG colors be enhanced without changing the subject & FG?
Andrew
What Peter did. As I was looking at your picture before scrolling down, I thought to myself this needs more pop in color. Maybe somewhere between yours and Peter's rendition if his is too much for you. Love seeing the bull's breath. What a great silhouette with that layered, smokey-looking, misty BG.
I really like the both of them. The op looks like dawn and the repost looks like dusk. I like being able to see the frost and the hint of detail on the elk in the op. I think that a little more detail coaxed out of the elk would make this even better. There is some dust spots in the clouds. Pretty image.

Lovely mood and super silhouette! I was immediately going to suggest adding contrast but Peter sprung in ahead of me and I love his repost...
If you have any, adding a sliver of space on LHS would improve overall composition IMHO.
Hi Jess, when I saw this originally elsewhere I did feel initially it looked washed out, but had a nice 'mood' to it. Personally I feel Peter's it just a little too powerful, but certainly offers another alternative and I agree with Morkel, a hint more to the LHS would certainly help. However, if you bring in both left & right sliders in Levels I think/feel it gets more to your original vision and still retains the concept, WDYT? By moving the middle slider you can darken or lighten the elk, but may need to add a mask perhaps?

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Thanks for your thoughts. Since the morning was foggy the repost does not show the scene as the original conditions were. i tend to present my photos as I saw the scene.
Like the rpost with a little more detail. Great color and I really like that background!
Re-post tops! Great mood and contrast!![]()
