    Default The stretch

Here is an Anna's Hummingbird stretching which I thought would fit in this month's theme.
I shot this one at Shoreline Lake in March. Back then the hummers were all displaying on their favorite branches,
so I just stuck close to one of them and waited for it to do something interesting.
Unfortunately this bird kept facing the wrong way...

This is approx. a 50% crop. Apart from cropping, I cloned out a couple of distracting OOF branches.
Let me know if it works for you.

    Works great for the theme.
About as unusual hummingbird shot as you could get.
    Nicely done.

Definetly works !! The unusual pose also has great symmetry and so works with your dead centre composition !!!

Excellent sharp feather detail, and I like the iridescence. Removing the small perch would have put this over the top, but still a fine image.

Stuart, that's a great idea! I'll work on removing the perch when I get home tonight. Thanks!

Luis, of course it works. stunning, actually. the tail spread, the exquisite feather details....one heck of a shot. I actually prefer that it is shot from behind.

I love it when people capture a unique look at a common species. Well done!

This reminds me of the recent Tern stretch, and I love this one too! ALways happy to see new perspectives. Great colors here, wonderful details and a pleasing BG>

Absolutely love this one! Detail is exquisite! Who needs eye contact?

Great choice to center the subject which emphasizes the symmetry.
This is a case where a square crop might also work well to emphasize it even more.

I like the branch in the image - it makes me think this is not a hummingbird, but a wonderful exotic flower on a stem.

Really outstanding; it makes me smile!
