I photographed The Manhattan bridge framing the Brooklyn Bridge this last Sunday along with my friends Nick Palmieri, Roman Kurycwzack, Ben Venenzio & my hubby Anthony. We went to an area called Dumbo in Brooklyn, NY. And for the few non New Yorkers that are wondering where that is... Dumbo, is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. This is a 3 image HDR, tone-mapped in Photomatix, converted to b/w in Nik Silver Effex Pro and Fractilicious filter applied from Filter Forge. Filter Forge is for both PC & Mac OS. It has over 8,000 filters and effects. I posted the original image with some variations in my blog post today. I applied the frac effect to this image so I could share it, even though I feel it made the image a bit busy with all the original starburst in the image. But I have read of a few Mac users wondering if Fractalius was available for Mac's, which it is not. You can install Parallels and run Windows on your Mac if you want to, but if you prefer not to go that route then this filter is an option.

Hi Susan, Well defined starbursts which really adds alot of interest to the bridge. I like the angle you shot this at where your showing good detail in it's underside and the stanchions. The sky has a soft, moody look to it also. Nice to know a form of Frac is available to us mac users. Thanks for the info...
    A "sparkling" image....

I love the effects in this image. The multiple star-bursts and the detail you maintained in the bridge is awesome. You got me thinking about adding this effect to a straight skyline shot. whoa!

Susan, I think this is wonderful. Love the starbursts and the way they blend together in the distance. Very unique and very nice!

AND - thanks to Dave I now know what a stanchion is

I agree with the others, a wonderful image. Glad to see the B&W and wonder if the original the same impact.

Thanks for your kind comments, Dave. I think I like the original better. I posted the original along with some variations yesterday in my blog post if you would like to take a look.
