Took this at a local wetlands last night. I like the dynamism of the pose and the evening light, and the sort of painterly quality (man am I preferring the image quality of my 5DII over my 7d lately). Small crop for comp. None taken off bottom--is the partial reflection a problem? Wish I had it all. Is just part of it too distracting?
Thanks so much in advance for any comments/critiques. I hope you like it!

What a sweet young bird. To answer your questions, from my own point of view, yes, get rid of the reflection. It is a distraction. I'd trim from the right as there is some oof stuff and the stray grasses could go. Not to sterilize, but to avoid my eye being drawn up there. A bit of fill could have evened the light just a bit. And yes, I too love the quality of the 5Dmk2. The light part of the neck seems lacking in detail which I suspect is there, given the camera you were using so I'd try and tease more out. Plus sharpen the head and neck a bit. I think this is an image WELL worth a little more processing time!

    Gotta love that juvenal plumage!
Agree with you on the pose and the light.
Agree with Grace on the reflection and fill flash.
Another possibility would have been to move to a better light angle if physically possible or wait for a pose which had the body angled more toward the light.

The composition of the repost as per grace's suggestion are excellent. I still find the eye a tad soft and would do another round of sharpening. Very nice repost.

Excellent Spotted Sandpiper pose. Love the BG too. I prefer the looser comp of the original, but I understand your predicament about the reflection. On the repost my brain is telling me there should be a reflection there, so perhaps cropping from below just enough to eliminate the bill (and leaving the belly and leg in) would give you just enough to make it work (good job on the clean up though!!). I actually like the light angle...well done

Agree with Grace -either include a complete reflection or none at all-obviously different people feel differently.
    Repost achieves most of suggestions.

I really like the repost. I did not mind the reflection but branch removal made the shot.
