Agree with your own critique. The colors here are simply amazing. I would have liked a less distracting BG in a perfect world.

Did you manual focus if you were using a 100-400 with a 1.4 on a 40D?

    Hi

    focus Auto AI Servo

I use this lens converter for many shots; works fairly well after taping pins on the TC
however CANNOT use centre focus point on my body, use top right instead and it works pretty well.
The shot was also taken hand held. I would not really recommend as you will lose a fair number of shots, but when it works it works pretty well.
Now using with Canon 7D and it seems to work fine with A1 Servo expanded central and single focus point. The downside is always going to be speed
I have been unable to find out why centre focus point doesnt work, and saw the top right point tip somewhere on the canon forum
Thanks for posting; more lovely hummers to come

I like the pose and eye contact. You got some nice iridescence in the gorget. There's some motion blur, and I'm not crazy about the bright BG. Also the bird is a little tight in the RLC.

Lovely bird for sure !!! Am ok with the BG , since you cannot get the perfect one all the time . The bird though , is a bit soft , slight motion blur , as already pointed out . If it were sharp , it would have more than made up for the BG .

Played with the levels a bit and the edges to lessen the blur . Dont know if it works , but attached is my effort .

    Thanks Rakesh

Good improvement; I have another shot which may be better so will be looking at that.
At the end of the day SS too low for the lens power HH; subject very close ie 4 m
