Felt so lucky when this Bronzed Cowbird began displaying in the air, right in the same area, almost like a hummingbird. I had my camera pointed toward another bird when I saw this one jump off the ground and begin showing off, and I had to act fast. Would have liked more speed, but no time to change settings. It was amazing, and I like how he looks as though he is throwing a cape around his shoulder.

WOW! This is a pretty amazing flight and behaviour shot! Very unique and effective! Shutter speed was a bit slow for this kind of action but it looks sharp enough to me.

Fantastic shot, Marina! Such incredible drama and power in this. Love the comp and the warm BG. Just a remarkable capture.

    Dramatic image, Marina.
He looks like he's exiting a scene with fire and smoke. Those red eyes and the cape make him the evil character in this drama :)
Very well done - especially considering the limited reaction time you had.
    Wonderful image.

The very dark forehead really draws attention to the gorgeous eyes of this species. I also like the background color which if any other I'd find less appealing. The lack of complete sharpness lends itself very well to this image offering a good sense of the bird's behavior with detail where it's required.

I remember when Arthur Morris posted one these birds maybe a year back and I was truly amazed.
Now, I'm truly amazed again especially because of the pose you captured, Marina. Great picture!!!

excellent dynamic pose Marina, is the red in the eye completely natural or did you enhance it a bit?

What a pose. Head is sharp and think the SS is great, the blur makes the image for me!

Here is what Wikipedia writes: The Bronzed Cowbird (once known as the Red-eyed Cowbird) The former name says it all I think. I did not apply any saturation to this picture.

Fitting title and excellent capture. Gorgeous background. Can you ever so slightly darken the the bright area where your name is ? Was this cropped from horizontal ?

No, Mike, the series was captured in vertical which made me very happy.

Marina, excellent timing to capture this flight posture. I just love that red eye, it stands out so well from the black plumage. Take a bow for capturing this in vertical too.

WOW!! What a fantastic pose Marina, and original vertical too! Big congrats!!

I hate to point out any fault with such an awesome image...but I wish the blacks didn't look as if the BG colour has bled into it. In selective Colour you can tweak the blacks some...

An amazingly dramatic pic. Wonderful as it is, but I was wondering if there was any detail in the dark tones that could be brought out. I assume it was shot in raw, so there may be a little you could pull out. Just a thought, as this is already one of the most dramatic photos I have seen on this forum!
