Steve's image made me dig up an image from our 2009 trip to Northern Kruger.

Overcast light and summer wildflowers added to the scene here. Nothing much happening, just a record shot of this species that I quite liked.

    Techs:
    Nikon D300s with 200-400mm f4 VR @ 400mm
    f4.0 @ 1/2500 SS @ ISO-320

Nothing wrong with record shots, especially when the subject is this good looking! Nice surroundings, the flowers show off it's softer side . I like the blurred one in the BG and the way it has its eyes on you.

That is one freaky looking animal, Morkel. Freaking good capture, by the way!

The flowers and the BG symmetry are a nice touch here Morkel, the o'cast soft lighting suits the scene also.

Very nice Morkel, the OOF WH I think in this instance works very well, is this 'in camera' or PP? I also like the diagonal feel running through from bottom LHC to top RHC, but do you have any more image above as I think it's a little tight. Will take a better look tomorrow, but I feel you could afford to drop both Red & Yellow on the WH as I personally find them a little warm, WDYT? Plus, perhaps a hint more Contrast or Curves just to add a bit more bite/definition, but as I said will look at this when I get back. The white flowers aren't to much of a distraction IMHO, but the OOF ones to the base of the orange flower & slightly to the right just catch my eye.

Agree with Marc, the slightly overcast conditions worked in your favour.

Thanks for viewing and commenting guys...

Steve - something like this?? I did not add any blur - this was as shot from the camera.

Morkel - Nicely done with the one in focus and other oof. I too like the wildflowers. I prefer the comp of the OP but the color/boost in contrast of the repost. More detail comes through on the in focus WH in the repost.
