Default Mr T about to get bit!

This Gallinule had been terrorising a group of mesoamerican turtles close to the restaurante I was enjoying a "jungle burger" in.
Location is Gamboa, on the Chagres River. The Gallinules were tossing baby turtles around and this one was biting the larger turtle
several times; unfortunately this is the one shot where they are both reasonably sharp.
The BG is water btw and I had to eliminate quite a bit of black spec debris in the bg.
I did not see a gallinule eat any turtles but was fascinating to watch.

it is very interesting and cool, but something has gone wrong in the processing as it looks like a painting rather than a photo.

I am surprised the turtle didn't just "close up". Interesting interaction between two species. Good pic!

Neat picture but agree with Arash about the IQ.

What a great behaviour captured! I guess IQ has suffered from using the combo 100-400 plus converter.

    Ofer

no need; I messed up OP; your comment on repost is very welcome indeed. The 100-400 and TC is not easy but can give good results in good light
I begin to wonder how many others I have killed lol
S&H can be really a mess if over used; should stick to DB guidelines on this or use curves
also high USM radii didnt help - minimal PP is the way to go, after getting the pic right of course

Richard, this image is filled with details from the obvious interaction to the subtle such as the bird's incredible feet. Love the turtle's indifference to the situation. Thanks for sharing this one, it's one of those that I can look at for a long time.

Richard, I'm glad you included a repost...looks great. I wouldn't mind a bit looser comp, but cool as is too.
