Photographed just as the very first rays of sunlight came above the trees. I have 2 feeders and my resident Broad-tailed Hummers are doing their best against this one mighty Rufous.

    Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 400 DO f4, 1/160, f5, exp. comp. +1/3, ISO 1250.

    C & C most welcome.

Hey Nancy, I love this one. You surely could have posted it under the August theme of "Unusual Poses;" I have never seen anything like this one--the gorget is killer.

I do feel that there is a much more effective crop as per the repost. What does the big ugly part of the perch do for the image??? Nada.

As for the reds, I am, sure that you can handle them by starting over and checking out the RED-ucation thread in the ER. They do not look bad as posted.

Awesome pose you got here Nancy! Looks like a full beard on this guy

A few of your recent posts have a strong magenta cast on the greys...can you see this on your monitor (just wondering if your monitor needs to be calibrated)?

This is superb Nancy and the re-post does improve it. I can live with the reds as posted.

Hey Nancy - This is about the coolest hummingbird pose I've seen in a long time. Some good advice on color, etc. above, especially the cast on the perch, but just an awesome image. Thanks.

Thank you everyone. Artie is right about the crop. And I just recalibrated my monitor to reduce the magenta cast (I hope!).
