Geir, Like the bird but are not crazy about the perch. The two darker parts on each side and the very light part in the middle. If you would have gone down a bit further , you could have created a bit more separation. Like how the feet grab onto the perch.

Sharp, good EXP, and I love shorebirds :). Eye looks weird/flashed. A crop from below would minimize the perch. Cropped, eliminated on stub near the rear, and did some Eye Doctor work.

Very nice, sharp image. While I was trying to see how it would look without the right part of the perch, found Art had posted the above. Thought I would post it anyway as it is another alternative to consider. Please excuse the poor work in the lower left but I am sure you could do better with more time. Beautiful bird and nice backgound.

Richard, I think that you meant lower right (not left) :). But a good idea and a job well done. But you cropped too tightly. 3X2 would have been fine with more room in the front than you left.

Glad that you liked Gier. Did you see my Norway stuff on my blog?

Hello Arthur. It's something I've wanted to tell you. In respect for you as a human being, I hope not that I said something wrong. A little over 5 years ago I bought my first photo equipment. Some months after my wife gets the message that she had cancer. I understand that I must be a lot at home, so I buy your book "The Art of Bird Photography" to learn more about photography. When I open the book and see the beautiful picture of Seagull, flow my tears. This experience has been that I have a special relationship with you and your book. The book I have read many times, most recently last night. My wife is healthy today.

    Best regards from Geir Jensen

Not in the least. Everything that you said was meaningful and wonderful and powerful. My tears were tears of happiness. :)
