    Default Hot Air Balloon

    Attached Images Attached Images

My first Hot Air Balloon image. I went to a Balloon festival today and had a great time walking around photographing all the beautifully colored balloons. I thought the wjite background would make the colors pop even more. I added a Fractalius effect to this one so I could share it with my friends in OOTB. A slight crop for composition.

Great high-key image, you can barely notice the fractalius effect on the top of balloon unless you mentioned it ;-) I love how the colours get deeper towards the base of the balloon, comp is amazing as well

I think the colors do pop, catching the pilot with flame on, adds to image. Well done

This is different and a beautiful one, Denise. The white background does give a different perspective but I think your framing with slightly tilted basket and the flames makes it even more compelling. Nice fract processing.

Denise, I love this one. The light use of Fractalius is nicely done. I love hot air balloons, never been to a festival, but get them over the back field throughout the summer. I'd love to go up in one for some aerial photography someday. Beautiful work!

Love the color and light Denise, hope you have some more! Just a hint of fracting makes this so appealing.

    Hey Denise,
I really like the effect of the filters had on the baloon. It looks very good! I don't feel it carried through to the basket though and while the white BG is OK........I do wonder if another more subtle tone would suit the treatment in the baloon better? For my tastes.....a slight tweak on the basket to match the baloon a bit more will take this up a notch.

I like this a lot, Denise. I get such a feeling of being swept away by the balloon.

Denise, I've come back to this image several times..I agree with Roman's comment about carrying the effect from Fractalius to the basket...and, if it were mine, I'd experiment a bit with the background..maybe a graduated color from white in the lower left to a deep sky blue in the upper right? It might heighten the effect of the ascent and make the lighter tones of the balloon at the top stand out a bit more...just thinking out loud! Something that really makes the image for me is the glow around the flame and the color and shadow around where the flames shoot up into the balloon...very nice!

Thanks folks I appreciate the comments.
John, I did experiment with the background but found I preferred white the best, just a matter of taste. Also the basket looked too clumpy to me to keep the filter effect at full force so it is shown w/ 50% effect. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated.

Hi Denise, hot air balloons are always so colourful, and in this with the high key BG, the colours pop so well. I like how we can see the flame.
