    Default Swimming Dolphin

Living in Fl I don't have much opportunity for alot of wildlife besides birds but every now and then I get lucky. Got this image this past spring at Ft DeSot FL. The white pelicans were there fishing and I quick grabbed my gear, hit my knees and started shooting. After a few frames I noticed the dolphins so I turned my attention to them. They were very close to me and this one decided to chase a fish. i got lucky with two frames having the head out of the water and this is the better of the two.

    Cheryl,

I agree. I see them here in the water too but rarely get a nice view like this. I have only seen them jump out of the water a handful of times and has not in a position for an image. So you did well here reacting to the opportunity and capturing this image.

I would suggest cropping some from the top to see how you like it. More of a pano crop would strengthen the impact of the dolphin.

Great that you could get a clear view of the dolphin. I agree with the pano suggestion as there is a dark line formed by a wave at the top.

Good reflexes to capture this brief moment the dolphin is up! I really like the water being pushed by the nose and trailing the tail, as well as all the droplets above the dolphin. It's great to see the nose, that "grin" and a bit of the eye. If you crop, I would not crop out that dark blue water line. Maybe crop just above it.

Cheryl, I like the 'breaching' moment here with water parting as the dolphin comes out. I know how tricky this kind of photography is (degree of difficulty getting more as the water gets murkier).
I agree with Robert's crop suggestion - I'd take it off right to the dark line in the water.

Nice capture Cheryl. Always good to see these guys. They are a riot to watch (and photograph if you are quick enough). Seems I'm usually driving the boat and have yet to get anything very good of a dolphin. Maybe next time I see one I'll drive no handed.
