From the garden at Cielito Sur, Cerro Punta, Western Panama

A group of 4 males and 4 females were hanging around the garden for a few days, shot was taken on tripod in the early evening.
never came fully into the open. tried to neutralise objects in the BG by using a darken blur. Cropped a little from the left.Although not as bright as the males I love the subtle colors of the females
    NR in Topaz BG only

    f 9 , 1/160, Ev -1, ISO 800, 40D 100-400, 1.4 TC on tripod, Av

Richard, not an easy one this one. The cluttered bkgd and branches take a lot away from the bird. HA is not ideal. Would also prefer a bit more space in front. The cut in half leafs bother me also a little.

Hi Richard, there is good detail in the feathers, seems just a little soft in the face, exposure looks good, of course the bg is not ideal but sometimes that's just the way it is. Was this recent? I don't know the migratory habits of the RBG but I do think that they are in the US right now. Do some stay in Panama all year?

This was in April in Cerro Punta, Western Panama, RBG were grouping together and feeding heavily ready to leave for the US
Ridgely Birds of Panama states "fairly common transient and uncommon winter resident through Sept-April, groups together before migration in small groups as these were., breeds in summer Eastern USA Central N,USA
Sso I would say a few may stay
