    Default Grand Central Station

I photographed this 3 exposure HDR image a few months ago at Gillette Castle, while Romin' with Roman and my husband Anthony, prior to our recent workshop there. It is a view to Grand Central Station, which is what Gillette named it. He had a steam engine train for his visitors to ride in and view the 184 acres surrounding his castle. If memory serves me correctly, I tone mapped the images using Nik HDR Efex, used Topaz adjust (no preset, just adjusting the sliders) and finally applied a dose of Adobe Pixel Bender.

Hi Susan, A very somber day with with a very dramatic sky setting the tone. Interesting arch with the PB adding color, texture along with a nice technique in mirroring the top of the arch.
Good capture showing the small pool and reflection. Finally, I like how you positioned the building offset within the arch. Well thought out...

    Hey Susan,
I remember that day! I had gone over there but didn't think it was going to work! I like the effect PB had on the stonework of the arch and his depot.......Your framing was excellent (as expected) with the road leading us nicely through the frame compositionally. The reflection puts it over the top for me! Very nicely done!

Wonderful composition...your eye is drawn up through the image with the frame of the arch and the curve of the road...I'm not familiar with Adobe Pixel Bender, but I like the surrealistic effect on the stone. The tone mapping added a good bit of drama to the clouds...very nice!

I agree, Susan, very nicely seen and composed. PB Oil really works well with the stones of the arch, and the reflection is a nice touch. Well done!

Hi Susan, really well thought out and executed image. Effects work very well. Would love to see this posted at the maximum size, my eyes aren't what they used to be...

Thanks Paul & Kerry for taking the time to comment. I very much appreciate it. Kerry, I forget to lower the image quality size instead of the pixels in order to conform with the max size allowed. Thanks for the reminder and I will keep that in mind for my next post.
