Default Bald eagle against mountain back drop

    Attached Images Attached Images

This image was created in the afternoon with partly overcast skies at China Poot Bay near Homer, Alaska. The mountain back drop and vegetation provides for a nice habitat image of the bald eagle doing its daily job of looking for something to eat.

This image was created with the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens and Canon 1.4x TC II at 205mm, and the EOS-1DMIV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering: 1/2000 sec. at f/7.1 set manually. Cropped for composition.

    All comments are welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hey Clemens,
The pose is fantastic alone......add the BG......that puts this at a whole other level! Great placement in the frame too and how the wings frame the peak and don't merge in to the dark area......great stuff and a winner all around!!!

We don't often see foothills, peaks clouds and blue sky combined this nicely in a eagle photograph.

The precision of the eagle capture with its razor sharpness and perfect exposure to reveal delightful brown feather details against the bright BG seals the deal !

Stunning comp on this, Clemens, love the lines balancing each other, of the eagle wingspread and the mountains. Wonderful environmental shot while also so sharp and gorgeous of the eagle. Congratulations on a really special image!

Wow...a super-duper image!!! I agree with all of the above. That clear piercing eye of the eagle adds huge drama.

the placement of the eagle, its pose and the BG...just stunning. the arrangement of everything in the frame is painting-esque perfect.

Fantastic work as usual, Clemens. I shoot eagles along the Mississippi River but I never get a background like this. Sweet.

Agree with everyone. The glance looks all business. Clouds and snowy mountain backdrop.. speechless.
