The bird looks nice, the FG looks really strange.

    Hi Noelle

I agree with Dan and would crop off the bottom OOF foreground by about 50%, ie just above the white band... I like the intent stare and the complimentary blue & green background. Pity the feet are largely missing but...

Great pose but there is something about the FG which is distracting, the layers in the BG are strong already. If you go for the suggestions above you will go too tight I think (No room for virtual feet). As for Dons comment, if the birds hunting in water you will never see the feet, so that for me does not bug me at all. If anything I would clone the dark FG into the blue patch right at the bottom to get rid of that 4 layer band. Otherwise the techs look great Noelle! Another fantastic shooting angle!

Thank for looking and commenting. I struggled with what to do with the FG since the egret was on a small peninsula.

Here is a re-post with Dumay's suggestions. I originally tried to crop it as Don suggested but to me it did not leave enough room at the bottom.

Noelle, the repost is for sure an improvement. I might do a contrast mask of the head, beak and red feathers as well to have it pop a little more.

Noelle, a very good repost changing the FG. I absolutely love the pose and the details of the egret. So often the egrets hide their head when they lift their wings. Very nicely done.
