    The background is somewhat cluttered but it is still a nice
    open spot compared to other spots I had there.

    What a beautiful bird. I love the red eye and the ripple in the water. Very nice comp. BG is a bit busy but it is still a great environmental image. The head looks a tad soft on my monitor.

    Very tough bird to find in the open. Good environmental scene.

    I love Virginia Rails (haven't photographed them yet this year...gives me a great idea for this weekend!!) I agree with your self assessment about the BG, and there is evidence of post-processing along the top left edge.
