Hey Luis! A very nice portrait here. Great pose and background. Good job exposing the white wing patches too. If this was a set-up I might use a perch that is a bit thinner in the future. I could also see the blacks being a bit darker.

Well done and I am looking forward to more images!

A beautiful picture of this striking bird, Luis.
Actually I like the raggedy perch here.
It goes well with this bird.
The background is a beauty on its own.

Very nice image. Good exposure and great detail in whites and blacks. Love the BG. Might wish for a bit more room in front of bird and a sliver off the right to make the bird less centered. Gorgeous bird!

Nice bird, BG, details. Although the perch has nice texture to it, I too would consider another thinner one. I'd crop a bit at bottom for a 3:2 ratio, and feel the whole image can come down in luminosity (toning down the midtones to the .80 to .85 range looks great in PS) On my monitor the perimeter around the eye looks odd...

Awesome species, and you did well overall.

Thanks all, those are excellent suggestions.
Daniel, these days I am printing some my images, hence the more traditional 8x10 aspect ratio.

Anyway, here is a refinished version combining your ideas.

Luis, very nice shot...details and BG are excellent. I like the repost but if mine, I'd still crop some from bottom and add a tad at top. might be personal preference though. I'd also remove one catchlight if it fits in your ethics.

agree with Daniel on the luminosity issue.

Luis, Did you use flash on this image? Any idea what caused the double catch-light? Was this a set-up?

Artie, yes I just checked the EXIF and I did use flash.
And, I forgot to mention that this was a setup.
