    Default White-faced Ibis Oil Painting

Recently near my home a Western Red-faced Ibis made quite a stir. It showed up an stayed in our area for a week, giving photographers and birders a chance to see this bird. I got there one morning as the Ibis was preening. Working the graveyard shift gave me a chance to work on this image on my laptop. This is the resulting image.

I used fotsketcher to give me the oil painting look, pasted back in the original eye, added the frame...

Great pose on the Ibis. Nice placement in the frame. I like the painterly feel to the image, it has a grainy feel to it. I think the environmental setting works great. There a blade of grass in the BG that touches the point of his bill that I might want to evict, your call.

Paul, I love the effect! The framing is nice too. Maybe a little tight on the bottom but this is lovely. Jay makes a good suggestion. Looks like this is one of the Ibis images from your new blog. BTW Congrats on that!! I'm looking forward to seeing and reading more.

Excellent painting effect, Paul. I love the pose with raised foot and the look in that eye. The habitat setting is very nice... I like the framing too.

    Hey Paul,
I like the oil painting look but I do believe Jay is onto something! I think cleaning up some of those grass blades that touch the bill will take this over the top!

It really helps to have other peoples opinions, lots of good ideas. I didn't have much more at the bottom as this was a full frame image but I did try to leave as much as possible (there was a bit of OOF vegetation there). Then the grasses near the bill, sometime I wonder how I miss those things. So I reworked this image, trying to get the most out of it...a bit more all around and grasses are gone. it also helps to not be on my laptop.

This image does look a lot better in large size, before reduction..my own little critique
    Thanks for comments

Paul, this is a great image - love the pose and the painterly look. Repost is better and I do wish I could see it bigger. I'm really liking the colors...
