    From a blind on Machias Seal Island, Maine. Mark IV, 500 f4 + 1.4x III, iso 200, f14, 1/250 shot manual mode in harsh light at 11:30 a.m.

    Herb,
    Nice head shot, sharp and great detail. Pity about the harsh light and angle which gives shadow on the eye and neck. Wonder if some fill flash would have improved the shadows. The black feathers seem too gray to me, and I am not too fond on the green/braun bkgd on the right. Blue would have fit better with the portrait. You could also lighten the eye a little.

    Nice Portrait Herb...The Harsh light looks obvious from the shadow...

    Excellent detail, Herb. I'm sure you were wishing for a wisp of cloud to pass overhead and soften the light.

    Very nice portrait. I like the BG. The shadow is unfortunate and fillflash would have helped but I think you did a great job with the light. I would be thrilled to have this in my portfolio!

    excellent pose and sharp details, I agree the blacks look grey a contrast curve should bring out the punch
