I took this image at a local Pan. We were photographing these guys coming in for landings. This is my favorite image of the day. I like the growth at the bottom as I feel it adds a bit extra to the image. Did some minor cloning on a few background distraction.

    Hi Wynand,

The pose, HA, exposure and sharpness all look good, my only comment is the vertical composition. It is too tight in the frame. Any specific reason why you framed it this way. Horizontal would work better giving the bird more space around, unless you shot in as a vertical. I would tone down or get rid of the highlights on the legs and feet.

Agree with Clemens about the too-tightness of the comp, but otherwise a cracker of a shot, Wynand, I really like it! Great techs all around, and wonderful landing pose!

Excellent pose, exposure, detail. I don't mind the vertical, but too tight in frame for me.

Great but just too tight in the frame.

Lovely shot. Agree about needing more room all around but a beautiful shot nonetheless. The exposure is excellent and I love the action portrayed by the landing pose.

Wonderful image! The grasses do add to the image. As suggested, if you loosen it up it will be even better.

Thanks so much for the comments and input everyone! I did try a horizontal crop, but I found it impossible to get the composition half correct when in that crop. So did this vertical. Will go give it another try, thanks!

What a pose. thats the best part here. A loose vertical will be best IMO. excelent angle, exposure and DOF.

Hope you can contribute more such poses in next month's theme.

Like Dumay said Wynand - All spot on, save for the tight crop! Great image!

Vertical comp is fine IMO, just a bit more space would make this image better. Very nice pose and blue BG.
