Canon 1Dmk3, Canon 800f/5.6 lens, handheld. S/speed 1/1600s at f5.6, iso 400. Cropped. Metering evaluative, Ai Servo focus. Location Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa. June 2011. Taken in late afternoon. During the midst of a chase these two chacma baboons faced each other momentarily. Strong winds added interest to the shot by causing the baboons hair to blow forward. Hi Grant, welcome back, nice opening image.

I like the contrasting colours and the snarling exchange. Can't really comment on colour as viewing on MacBook, but the PS seems to have a nicer warmth, but as I say, this could be optical Might suggest lightening the face a fraction either by revisiting the RAW or H/S, just to bring just a hint more definition out and clone out the hot spot on the rear leg.

It sure is great seeing you back on the forum Grant, and looking forward to seeing more of the images from your recent trips/safaris

This is very cool...you make handholding that 800mm sound so blase .
Awesome action and the wind adds an extra element. I agree with Steve to try and lighten the snarling face a tad...

    Morning Grant

Super image, would have been amazing if you had caught the other baboon s facial expression...
Agree with Steve on the dark areas and blown whites .. so I have adjusted them and also just warmed image up slightly

Nice image and action, the wide open mouth bearing teeth makes the shot, like what Peter has done with it!
