Quite simply this is a gorgeous image Jason! Dof and exposure looks right on to me. If I can give any

criticism at all it would be that the breast feathers look a sliver to sharp. Very well done.

What a wonderful shot, Jason. loved the grasses, bird angle and placement of the bird is perfect. excellent pose and colors. really liked this one...incredible at that SS.

I also think you can back off a bit from sharpening on the breast and the near wing. If you make the blacks in and near the eye a bit deeper, it will be better IMO.

Nice habitat shown here. The colors and exposure are nice too, although I agree on making the blacks darker.

    Looking forward to more!

Loverly pose, head angle, sharpness, EXP, and setting. Would love to see it 1024 wide. Your big black signature bugs the heck out of me :) The only other thing that bugs me is the single, large o-o-f seed head center bottom.

Wonderful image! There is lots going on here, but in a good way. I agree the blacks could go a tad darker - especially so for the pupil. Well done!

Thanks for all the replies, and here you Art...

I made the blacks just a tad more black, and I tried to address the o-o-f seed head issue. I also tried to bring out a bit more texture on the seed head that was to the left of the offending OOF seed head. Sorry about the ole signature

    Hope this is an improvement.

The repost is really good, I might do just a bit of NR, but it is a really nice bird in habitat shot.

Great job with the seed head on the repost. A very small crop from below might strengthen the image even more. The signature is what the signature is :)
