    Default Just a Gull

From atop a cliff on Monhegan Island, ME several weeks ago. Just a ubiquitous Herring Gull, but they're always good for practice, and I liked the way he presented himself at an almost perfect 3:2 diagonal comp. I cropped tight to emphasize the diagonal. Too tight?

Beautiful shot, Bill. And I really like the way it fills the frame here.
Gulls sure are great for practice, aren't they!

Loverly on all counts. I would not change a pixel. Love the corner to corner diagonal.

Excellent top view Bill. I do like the diagonal and the comp works well as presented. On my work monitor there is something a bit odd going on around the bird's contour...

You've forced me to look carefully, and I think I do see some faint ghosting in a few spots (e.g. above the head). Not sure what it is. I did very little PP (NR on the water; USM on the bird, slight sat adjustment). It seems to be on the unprocessed RAW image as well; maybe related to the high contrast between bright white bird and dark water?

Bill, excellent. I think tightness is fine as there is enough room in front of the bill due to the diagonal comp. loved the dark BG and your vantage point was perfect.

I really love the top side view, perfect exposure, and diagonal comp. BG looks a tad noisy in some areas, it is probably just the jpeg though.

    Well done!
