Please correct my ID if it's wrong - shorebirds are definitely my weak point. I used Topaz Clean on this one. The background is a wave crashing.

I make it some kind of Dowitcher..I'm probably wrong, but I think a Short-billed. Really lovely image, bird position in image, wave crashing..very nice. When I first looked at it I thought if it were mine I'd remove the 3 white things on the beach. Very well done Cheryl

Looks like a Greater Yellowlegs to me. Nice bokay in the background and I like the softness and color tones. I might tone down the one specular highlight center left top if it were mine.

Really like the soft colors, your pp and the specular oof h/l in the crashing waves. If it were mine I would crop some from the top so that the start of the wave would not be in the middle of the frame. But overall I think it's a very nice image.

I'm going to suggest this is a Short-billed Dowitcher.
I really like the soft feel and cool color temperature. The placement in the frame of the bird is strong, but what really makes this work for me is the crashing surf background.

99.99& Short-billed Dow. GYL will always be spotted to some degree and will never show any yellow on the bill. GYL is taller and longer legged. :)

RATZ!! Thanks for the ID. What sucked me in was the way the bill appeared to be curving up slightly. I should have looked at the yellow on the bill.

Sor-ry! The two-toned bill of mostly juvie GYLs is black and grey.

Cheryl, I'm late to the party, but I really, really like this image. The breaking surf adds depth, the muted, almost pastel colors of the water on the sand gives the background an almost watercolor feel, and you nailed the exposure on the bird. It might have been nice to see another capture that didn't cut off the reflection of the dowitcher on the sand just for comparison. Nicely done!
