Hi Carole, the crop works for me, but as you say... I don't even mind the eyes both being along the center line in this case. Rules don't always make the best images in my opinion. I love the expressions here (if you'll pardon the anthropomorphism), classic. Him - "yeeha, yeeha", her - "ah geez, is breeding season over soon?"...![]()

As Lance would say, lot's to like here. Not saying this is a material thing but is the bottom level. Regarding the lower bird, whites are great and love the expressions - just great!
In this case you did not clip, you cut and to make a composition statement - works for me.
I like the crop, it concentrates and centers the "action" of these beautiful, and large birds.
Carol,,,Great expressions ! Great composition! Great bg! GREAT!![]()
Hey Carole,
Great behaviour! Did you consider A CW rotation and then crop....to eliminate the base? I don't mind tight images so it would work for my tastes. Light is VG but the "action"puts it over the top!
Nice one Carole, not bothered by the wings since the action is all in the center. Agree about cropping off the base. Exposure and sharpness look good!
I am loving your Gannet images, Carol. Nice light, details and story. If it were me I would go for a tighter crop. Overall very nicely done!![]()
I like this as well. exposure is right on as the whites are highlighted. I too would like to see a bigger crop to zoom in on the bird's head. Very nice.
