    Arctic Tern Fresco
Base layer with a fresco texture, Tern image blended in with bird painted through, Nik filters: tonal contrast, darken/lighten center, glamour glow, Indian summer - each on its own layer with varying opacity.
The original image was plagued with a featureless sky.

Love the textures in the background, with the look of an oil painting. The Tern itself looks great, the amount of detail in the head makes it shine considering the texture used.

John, Very, very nice! I love the painterly look to the background. Soft color tones, the wings and the outstanding pose put this over the top!

Very nicely done. I am usually not a big fan of texture but this one is sublime. Blackening the cap a bit might give it a bit more pop where it counts.

Fred, Denise, Artie, and Nick, thanks for the encouragement, and taking the time!

Artie, the repost is following your suggestion on darkening the cap. Dark enough? Thanks!

Really nice work, John. The textured look and the terns pose are lovely. Good call on darkening the head. I've had a few images printed on canvas..this would be a great wall hanger. TFS

John, this is beautiful. It looks like a DAP painting only better because of the fresco texture I think. The lighting is gorgeous - I love everything about it

This is excellent, John. Love the bg canvas effect and the tern pose is perfect. The repost rocks. I think you print this on canvas and hang it on the wall!!! excellent work.

    Hey John,
The paint BG was a great choice to replace a featureless sky! Repost rocks!!!

    Hi John,
Very nice work! I absolutely love your choice of texture for the b/g. Your use of filters and pp is really well done. The Tern's pose is also great. The repost following Artie's suggestion completed an already good image to start with.

I just had to add my vote that this is beautiful and very creatively processed. I need to take notes on your technique.
