Playing around with my new lens...
Two shot overlay merge, Lab curves, no PS blurring... The focus in each shot is probably not what you think.
I'm interested in hearing what you think... Thanks much.
Cheers,

Michael, Interesting look and it looks like you achieved what you were after, I might take a small slice off the top or evict the white thing at the top. What lens? Tilt shift?
Nice image and application, Michael.
Interesting effects. Presume you wanted the grass and the person on the pier? Just a guess.![]()

Interesting composition, Michael. I can't figure out the focus... the area around the nets seems more in focus than the area immediate right. I too would be interested in the lens.
Hey Michael,
It does look like the focus is all over the place. I do like the top crop idea and I'm not thrilled witht he FG grasses. A slight crop there and a bit of digital eviction will clean it up nicely for my tastes.
Getting excited about Arches yet?
Denise, Mark, Indranil,
Thanks much for the comments. The lens is a Nikkor PCE Micro 85mm f/2.8, the PCE meaning a tilt-shift lens, manual focus but metered. The real surprise for me was this shot:
This is my first experience with a t-s lens, so nothing is remotely intuitive... but I never expected both the grass and the wharf to come into focus in one shot while everywhere on the sand was oof. Still trying to wrap my head around it.
In the second blended shot pretty much everything from the sand at the bottom of the shot to the top of the image is in focus but the grass is not.
The merge unfortunately added a strange severe barrel distortion (how the two tilts are reconciled). The volleyball nets were brought in focused as a quick fix the the top of the lamp post being oof in the shot above (then I ended up bringing in most of the rest of the wharf, too)... just playing...
Thanks for looking. This lens is a gas. I have another shot with a corridor from the grass all the way to the top in focus along the wet sand/water and to the right and left oof.
Cheers,
-Michael-
Michael, I look forward to more of your experimentation.Cool lens!
