    Default Fonthill Castle Staircase

Had a great trip Roamin With Roman, Susan and Antony Candelario, Dave Mills, and several other workshop participants at Fonthill Castle in Doylestown Pa. Roman and Anthony managed to get us in there alone for several hours with our tripods (no cameras normally allowed) and their guides actually moved some of things out of our way to make the shooting easier. What a great crew of guides! This place is an HDR paradise! This image is of the stairway behind the fireplace (normally behind barricades) in the library. 3 image HDR taken with a tripod mounted 5DMK2 , 24-105mm, starting at 30s., at f/22, ISO 400. Merged in Photomatix, slight crop to reduce some distortion.

Nick, I love the lighting and the subject (the book titles look interesting also). This looks like a fascinating place to visit and shoot HDR

Nick, I really like the processing here, that is always the big question mark for me. Love the inclusion of the books, they make it for me. Wish I could have been there, I learned so much from you guys last time.

Hi Nick, nice job on this! The books were a nice inclusion and the colors really pop. HDR can be amazing at times since that narrow staircase was extremely dark....

    Hey Nick,
It was a great day indeed. I really like the perspective on this one. The colors and soft glow look to it really does it for me. Nicely done on the exposures and the pp as well.

That was one narrow staircase Nick! As Dave mentioned....very dark too! I might pull back on the brightness.....just a touch on the light reflection on the wall.......just a minor tweak. Very well done! It definitely was worth fighting the 100+ degree heat and loking forward to the fall workshop there already!

Beautiful composition, Nick. Love the narrow staircase and light coming from above the stairs. The books add to the image. Excellent processing.
