Default Juvenile green finch in flight

Thought I would join in with the theme before the end of the month.

This is from my garden set up, although it's an opportunistic shot while I was set up for something else. Our small flock of green finches squabble for the 6 perches available at the feeder, and frequently hover trying to get a spot. If the torrential rain ever stops I will aim for an update with better background.

Jeff: Lovely flight shot! I think it's a bit tight for my taste. A little more room in front to fly into and a bit more behind so the wings don't come so close to being clipped.

Keep working on the setup. It looks like a nice way to get good flight shots. Thanks for showing!!!

Very sharp with a nice catchlight in the eye. I agree with Linda about the crop, although since this is a landing pose I would also place the bird slightly higher in the frame.

Very well timed, as these guys are extremely quick when coming in to perch. Sharp, with a good wingspread, and agree to move him up in the frame.

nice flight pose, the bird it too tight in the frame. I would have chosen a higher shutter speed to get the tail sharp but still have some blur in the wing tips.

Thanks Arash, I checked, and this is the full frame vertical cropped from horizontal original. On the left I have the feeder. I'll give extending the canvas a go. This was one of the rare occasions this year in Belgium where I didn't need a very high iso just to get any kind of shutter speed, so was happy at the time to stay at iso400. The lens is f5.6 max, and sharpens up towards f8, so I probably would have put some more iso towards that before ss. As you can see the background is not great on this angle from the setup, so f5.6 was the obvious choice. If I get some decent light again soon I'll see about pushing up the ss some more. The current long trend of overcast weather leaves me lucky to get 1/200th at iso1600.
