Very jealous Peter and a big congrats for just capturing a half decent image of this rarely sighted species.
I have yet to see an aardwolf myself and very much on my wish list.
Wondering if this is a large crop with also a little too much sharpening on the head?
Looks like this was taken late dusk................but hey...........who cares.
Tried a quick repost here using a lumo mask @ 75% opacity to bring a little less contrast to it's dusk habitat.

Peter you lucky blighter! Where was this? I saw a few in April in the Mountain Zebra National Park but never good opps for a photo, usually across the road very quickly and then just a glimpse in the long grass.

I like what Marc has done as it does seem from your settings that this was early morning or late afternoon...

Much better than the photo I got of an aardwolf in January. I was at ISO3200 on the 7D, the noise is out of this world, at least you have something you can post. Handsome creatures.

Awesome capture Peter. From wiki page aardwolf can consume up to 200,000 harvester termites using its sticky, long tongue. wow..

    Thanks Guys and Gals...

I like Marks repost , the colour of the Aardvark is very similar to the termite mounds , so hence the slight hump on his body ,when he is bent over consuming the termites he just looks like another termite mound , as does the Aardvark that I manage to capture as well .

I had amazing sightings of them , but capturing them is another story, they move so quickly and just keep you out of range of there comfort zone.... but so pleased to get this another a few images... as my previous sighting was just a a flash in long grass...

Great sighting. I am fortunate to see one about once every 2 weeks or so. The resident one near Mankwe plains had pups late last year and we got to see them a few times. Have not seen them for a while though....The first animal that warning charged me in the Pilanesburg was a Aardwolf:eek: Can you believe it! TFS Peter

Okay, I've never even heard of this species! Thanks for sharing a rare creature. Its face reminds me of our grey fox.
