Joel, this is a really nice one. Love the color, detail, and background. You get some great poses and captures with your setups. Nicely done. Something bugs me about the crop but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe someone else will have an idea...

    Hi Joel

Pretty bird and a nice shot. I think it would be better if the end of the perch was lower than the birds head (maybe ending at the bud opposite the red chest) but I guess if difficult to tell them where to stand huh...
I can see a hint of a sharpening artifact over the beak also. Love the background...

    Joel,

Another outstanding setup picture, what was the subject distance. Nice use of ETTL and flash compensation. The perch is long, but I like the composition and It works for me. The background is great and I like the lighting variation used - well done.

I like the way you resisted making it too tight on top and bottom - thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jeff, I was probably around 15 feet away.

    Hi Joel,
Nice image of a beautiful bird. The oof b/g is lovely, I do think it might be a bit over sharpen. But overall nice job with your backyard setup.

    Hey Joel,
Sharpening issues covered.......I was leaning with Kerry on a crop.....for me 1/2 the space of the bottom and proportionally right .....yes right......makes this an even stronger diagonal and eliminates most of the whitish area in the URC....small blending after finishes it off. You have a great BG and set-up and you also handled the flash very well! Very nicely done overall and a few small adjustments will put it over the top!
