    Default Backyard Cardinal

I finally made a set-up in my yard this year but only used it a few times. I used some logs, branches, and a fabric BG, purchased at a local fabric store (actually me and Roman paid a visit to the fabric store together...). Taken with my 7D, 600mm, f/6.3, ISO 640, SS 1/400. My perches were set up on a garbage can and this guy jumped off the perch on the edge of the can. I liked his pose and began to shoot, thinking portrait. This is mostly full frame. I made a very slight crop off the back and the bottom to eliminate the perch and the garbage can.

Two men shopping for fabric.... now that is an image in itself

Can we see an image of your setup?

I like your cardinal, nice sharp feather detail and eye.

If it were mine I would clone out the food in his beak for a much prettier image.

I think I would rather have him post the image of Roman and Nick in the fabric store. I saw it and you can't help but laugh. They look so cute.
    Nick,
Nice image of the Cardinal. I really like the clarity in the eye and his raised crest. Did you photographed this yesterday? If so... I give you tons of credit. I could not even stand being inside with the a/c and refused to go outside with the heat index being at 116°

Nick ...I like the feather detail and the crest especially. Would like to see the setup. I also agree that it would be prettier if you cloned out the food in his mouth. Nice work!

Thanks gang, Yes I agree to remove the seed from his mouth, didn't even think about that...I am posting a cell phone image of the set-up. That is Roman K. putting the finishing touches on the BG. In addition to the logs on the garbage can, I have added a few perches around this where the birds usually stop and I can get a good shot at them..just need a few more hours in the day. Yes Noelle it was sight to see us in the fabric store, we are not fabric store kinda guys. We even used a coupon provided by my wife...

Wow! nice set up. Really, the card. is perfect, so often the reds are over the top. Love the raised crest. Great feather detail and sharp, sharp, sharp. I don't have to mention the hanging seed shell.

Nick, great reds, sharp, and I do like the raised crest. Thanks for sharing your set up. Im sure there are many ways to create a set up, and its the final result that counts.
