    Default Forest Kingfisher

Another shot taken from our 3 day trip.

MK IV - 800L - ISO800 - 5.6 - 1/1000. I didn't use any exposure compensation for the shot as it was taken in the shade.

Beautiful shot Richard. The only thing I can say is that I think a bit less perch would be nice. It kind of overpowers this wonderful bird. Other than that, nice exposure, beautiful color, nice and sharp. Nice feather detail.

Really lovely bird here. Wonderful pose but I also agree with reducing the size of the perch. Colors are vibrant and the variations of blue are wonderful. Nice catch!

Another vote for shortening the perch. Also, you might consider toning down the lights on the RHS

Thanks for the replies. The perch size is something that never entered my mind so some great advice.

    Richard,

Good advise from above. I might add, would lighten up eye/head ares and mute the hanging branches on right edge of frame. This is a beautiful species, bet your heart was pounding - mine would have. Was light flash an option or maybe a BB for distance - well done - thanks for sharing.

Hi Richard- Good comments above. On my calibrated monitor, there appears to be a slight colour cast. I had a look with LAB colour and found the neutral tones have a magenta and blue cast- not a lot but noticeable. Here's the result of the correction. Also lightened a bit.
