I thought it appropriate to have a Mountain Goat with mountains in the background.

Beautiful and very fitting BG Nancy, with good shadow detail.
For mine, this is a case where even more room on the left would suit if you have it?

Lovely detail and a good feeling of space. Light was against you but you still showing detail. I would like too see a bit more in the eye! Nice one !

Hi Nancy, very picturesque, lovely setting.

I agree with Marc re space, ie moving the whole crop to the left say by about a third so the goat had more to look into. What I might suggest is:
    - Highlight shadow to bring out a little more detail in the horns and as Dumay commented in the eye
    - Drop some of the yellow & cyan as it brings up the coat & detail nicely

I did try dropping the cyan/black just for the BKG, but on reflection I think it has a nice punch to it as presented.

Trust the fingers help up OK. BTW why f13, just curious?

I do have more space to the left so I will add that back. And I will try to lighten the shadows in the face and the eye.

Steve, thank you for asking. Fingers are o.k. but as I review my images I see more problems than I expected such as focus not quite on and not very good compostions. The opportunity was unlimited but the body was just too cold and befuddled from the altitude . So I have no good recollection why f13.

Hi Nancy, sometimes it just works that way, cut your losses and get back into the warm, there will always be another opportunity, keeping safe & warm is paramount.

If you have a spare battery it is always worth keeping it inside your jacket, safe and warm, but ready to go if the other fails due to the conditions. The MKIII worked well this year in -25, windchill -40+ sadly like you, the body wasn't quite there.

    Look forward to the repost.

Love the depth here Nancy, with the layers in the distant BG. Looking forward to the repost as I agree with Steve's suggestions.

Nancy, The mountainous background and the relaxed pose make this special. Steve makes some good suggestions.

I could not do much with the OP, so I chose another image from the same series and tried to 1) lightened the face & eye, 2) increase space the goat was gazing into.

Nancy, I love the 2nd compostion. I'd suggest posting it as a separate image on its own thread as it is lost here.
