    Default Skimmer playing with me

Sure seemed like this bird was playing with me. He'd skim right toward me and then veer away, sometimes after coming within my minimum focus area. Strong winds, hazy air, plus laying on my belly made this a real tough shot to get, so I was lucky tonight.

This sure is a tough job...flying in fast and constantly changing focusing distance and wind perfect recipe for blur pictures...But you did great job..

Where did you take this picture?

I am very bad at shooting birds flying in to the frame...how do you guys do it?

Congrats on a very cool flight shot ... great job tracking this guy coming right at you!
Exposure looks great and love that multi-layered BG!

I keep thinking maybe I'd like a sliver off the top.

A difficult shot well executed... Well done Grace

I might consider a little of the top and bottom, maybe from the top of your signature to half way through the grey band overhead to keep your hard earned focus on the bird...

Very cool flight shot indeed. Superb layered bg, pose and head-on look. Not an easy shot by any means.
    Well done!

I know what you mean, very frustrating at times but also very exciting stuff. Superb sharp head on this one and perfect DOF. The comp could do with a little crop off the bottom, taking out the blured forground. Well done Grace, to a easy shot.

very cool, I like the needle-sharp beak. just wish the left wing had not merged with the shore line.

Grace, this angle shows off the bill nicely, and good job on the focus for this head on shot. Well captured.

Love the tack sharp bill. There is nothing harder than keeping a bird in sharp focus as it comes towards you.Well done! I would take a sliver off the top and bottom,

Awesome capture, Grace. CAn't imagine how hard it must be to focus on this fast moving, slim silhouette! Wonderful job.

All the work paid off on this one !!

Strong winds, hazy air, plus laying on my belly made this a real tough shot to get, so I was lucky tonight.
I would have also had fogged glasses and viewfinder in this weather

Grace, yes, you nailed this one. hard to do get this at this low shooting angle. Very well done. Layerd BG is terrific. The red color draws the viewer in.

Love the low angle, and that oh so thin strip of focus on the water. Nice light too. Great pic.
