Back from a week at the cottage on Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound, Ontario and see that I have missed many great images in my absence. I spent much of the time floating in the lake to beat the heat and teaching my daughter to swim. When things would cool off slightly in the evening hours I would go out in the canoe to shoot the Common Loon. This year one pair of loons successfully hatched two chicks, but one has not survived. The remaining chick is doing well and diving on its own now.
As a point of interest, I noticed when reviewing my loon images this year, that the upper bill on one of the adult loons was broken. I remembered shooting a loon at the lake with the same broken bill many years ago. I looked back and that bird was photographed in May 2006 - most likely it is the same bird I shot this week.
After applying Fractalius to this one I masked back in the eye and 50% of the background and tweaked the image a little bit in Viveza.
Look forward to comments.
